  • Praveen Kumar Vadhera has resigned as CEO of the Indian Outdoor Advertising Association (IOAA), with May 31 marking his last day in the role.
  • Vadhera, who joined IOAA in November 2023, has over 30 years of experience in advertising and out-of-home (OOH) media.
  • His departure coincides with the IOAA's annual awards event and comes as the OOH industry faces significant changes related to measurement, digitization, and regulatory scrutiny.
  • Vadhera was instrumental in the development of RoadStar, a unified audience-measurement initiative, and engaged with authorities on outdoor advertising regulations during his tenure.

Praveen Kumar Vadhera, Chief Executive Officer of the Indian Outdoor Advertising Association, has stepped down from his role and May 31 was his last date at the organization.

Vadhera, a seasoned advertising and out-of-home professional with over three decades of experience, had joined IOAA as CEO in November 2023. His exit comes at a time when the IOAA is holding its annual grand awards in collaboration with the global body OAC (Out-of-Home Advertising Convention). Besides, the OOH industry is navigating a critical phase of transition — from measurement and digitisation to regulatory scrutiny and civic-policy changes across key markets.

When contacted, Vadhera confirmed the development but declined to comment on his next move. IOAA is yet to announce his successor.

During his tenure as the CEO of IOAA, Vadhera became one of the more visible voices of the OOH industry, particularly around RoadStar, IOAA’s unified audience-measurement initiative for outdoor advertising. The platform has been positioned as an important step toward giving the OOH industry a common measurement framework, a long-standing gap that has often held the medium back in conversations with advertisers and agencies.

Vadhera was also closely associated with the association’s engagement with local and state authorities on outdoor advertising regulation. Over the past two years, the sector has faced sharper scrutiny, especially after civic bodies began revisiting outdoor advertising policies around safety, permissible formats, digital displays, operating norms and enforcement against illegal structures.

Earlier, Vadhera held senior leadership roles across major agency networks and OOH businesses. His last assignment before IOAA was with Publicis Groupe India, where he headed Publicis In-Motion. Prior to Publicis, he was CEO at Interspace Solution. He earlier spent over six years as CEO of 141 WallStreet, a Bates CHI & Partners entity, where he was credited with helping build it into one of the leading OOH agencies at the time.

Vadhera also served as Country Head, Out-of-Home, at RMG David, a WPP Group agency, where he helped expand Ogilvy’s OOH offering. He has previously worked with Mudra Group’s Primesite and TDI International.
